Life 101 ... Grade D

Wednesday, February 21, 2007

Wow....hell of a nap. I thought about starting over completely, but figure why act like this is all brand new and shiny when I'm not. Too much shit has happenned since July to every explain and why go there anyway? I'm feeling the need to blog and therefore here I am...blogging.

After such a long hiatus I do feel a bit compelled to share a few things and make some clarifications. Here goes:

Shiloh. The dog pictured is not the dog we got. I had called for 6 days in a row missing the 7th due to it being the Fourth of July thinking they'd be closed...he was adopted the next morning. "Sorry lady. " was as far as I heard. Fine. Fuck you. Fuck you and Fuck your mom.

SO We adopted a different dog that very day from a shelter way up in Merlin Oregon. The real Shiloh (who is now 9 months old) is Half Husky and Half German Shepheard, brown eyes, white paws and howls like a wolf. My son calls her his baby. She is.

I guess that's all I'm willing to share at this time. Other than I had a best friend whom I trusted more than anyone in the word and she blew it. Over and over again. It really takes a ton to piss me off....she used a ton to get to me. I'm done, but not sure if she'd remember to read this, so i won't say anymore about it than this...here.

I am currently recooperating from life in the past 6 months or so. My mind has been blown away at how crazy people and feelings and emotions can be...I am in the midst of picking up the pieces.

That's it for now...

Cold Shower

Monday, July 03, 2006

It's the time of year again when I feel like I could water my lawn just by walking around on it. Hot! So, the family and I are meeting friends for a little camping trip where it's a bit cooler. I think we'll be going rafting too, so that's cool (pun intended). Anyhow, best wishes for a happy & safe Independence Day with everything you dream of and nothing you dread. Cheers!

Shiloh

Friday, June 30, 2006

My three year old son, who is a movie whore at his young age, watches his favorites over and over and over *infinity*. One of these movies is about a boy who finds a Beagle who has been abused and feels the need to keep the dog contrary to what the dog's owner demands. It's a great movie. (Move over Benji). The dog's name in the film is, you've guessed it....Shiloh.

So, no matter the breed, the sex, the age, the temperment, my sweet little son will name his dog:

Shiloh

And so the pup is christened and we haven't even picked him up yet!

Update:

Bad news, man................
Pup is sick - might be Parvo. They called me this morning (before we left, thank goodness) and said he's not doing so well. Pups can't do well when they're in an environment like that.If it were just me I'd go get him and take care of him in a loving environment rather than leave him in a cement floored cage, but knowing he may very well not make it...I could never put my little guy through such a thing. So. I'm thinking positive thoughts and focusing on the homelife right now. Maybe a higher power is telling me something. I think I'll be paying more attention... *sigh*

Woof!

Wednesday, June 28, 2006

It's been so long (again). I'm officially stating here and now that no reader of this blog should ever be surprised at any length of absence I may show knowing how dedicated I must be to:

A.) Cleaning house and caring for children a.k.a. wifely duties *choke*

B.) Somewhere unable to access any computer for posting, but thinking of many a subject to post about and because of that fact going somewhat tempo
rarely insane from trying to remember these genus subjects rather than writing them down like a normal person would.

C.) Having a hell of a lot of fun and not caring
g about any posts that may run through my head because I'm too intoxicated to remember to remember anyway.

D.) Picking up our new dog.

Wait.

What? A dog?

A dog.

Yes, after much deliberation, searching, and wandering - if you will - throughout loads of files, pounds, shelters and other places (mostly on-line). I found our pup.
We we're almost in the clear to get a Shar Pei mix (so so sooooo adorable) but had to drive 6 and a half hours to f*cking Fremont just to "meet and get acquainted with" the little bundle all of 9 weeks old. Come back home. Go through a home inspection. Be "approved".
Then, drive back down to Redding (over an hour away) on the 12th to go get him, paying a $200 adoption fee. After explaining to the lady that I was 110% sure we wanted the dog, but could not make the drive, she stated there was "just no other way" - we needed to meet him - "for HIS sake". So, I made the decision, for my pocketbook's sake, the fact that we do indeed need money to buy groceries, that $3.45 per gallon is a bit over the top for me to fill up 3-4 times just to see the cute face in person and get my face licked and finally, that I have a three year old who doesn't do as well as his Mommy on a 12-14 hour turn-around trip without bringing something home to show for it......I told her....Thanks for your time.

After hanging up the phone and fuming a bit longer I got on-line to look again. This time I saw a new post for a pup about 120 miles away. I called the phone number provided and was told, "I'll put a hold on him for 24 hours come and get him tomorrow. $8
0 adoption fee refundable after proof of neutering - that's it. Just what I wanted to hear.

I must say, for the record, that going through extra steps to ensure an animal goes to a good home is good. In fact, it should be a law, but sometimes, especially with the amount of homeless and orphaned animals out there exceptions should be made once in a while. I'm really surprised after 2 hours on the phone and filling out a full application AND being advised that we we're more than adequate to be dog owners that there was not an acception made. I hop the little tug will find a home as loving as we would have provided him. Moving on - - - - - - >

Here are some pics

What a babe, eh?
And the funny thing is what just now occurred to me.....that there's a resemblence.....

Thursday Thirteen

Thursday, June 15, 2006

Thirteen Things about ONE WITH CAT

Things that have kept me away from blogging the past 2 weeks....

1. Potty training the babe. I thought it would never end! Now he's doing great with NO accidents, other than the occasional bed wetting.

2. Eighth grade graduations, two of them, with all the preparation and teen aged angst to go with it. (The result was a diploma with a President's Honor Roll Certificate - yeah!!)

3. Weeding. Weeding. Weeding.

4. Prep-ing the upstairs bedroom for a new paintjob. This includes repairing chipes from plaster and removal of old wallpaper...three layers.

5. Making graduation cards.

6. Laundry. The usual amount plus ten thousand pair of toddler underwear a day AND sheets.

7. Clean-up after the cat. Now she pees in our bathroom because the babe pees there too. She doen't use the toilet, unfortunately she goes in and around the bathtub and whatever happens to be on the floor.

8. Sleeping in and the occasional early to bed night. Pure exaustion I'll tell you...

9. "Mom? Mommy? Mom? Mom?"

10. "Mom! Mom! Mom!!!!!!!!"

11. "Honey...?"

12. Finding places to hide.

13. Playing on My Space. It's really fun and i have found many, many a cool person there... (Here's your link: http://www.myspace.com/onewithcat )

Just plain useless

And the renter of the week? Useless Men! More specifically: USELESS ADVICE FROM USELESS MEN
I'm not being rude, that's what they call themselves, really.
I figure this'll be a good time for me to get to know and try to understand a little bit more about the opposite sex. How convenient is that? Okay guys, we have some rules .... share the alcohol, keep the noise level down after ten and no leaving the seat up.
Okay. We're ready to go. Uh.....put your beer on a coaster...

Remember...

Sunday, May 28, 2006

Bush lover. Bush hater. Patriotic. Not. Proud of your country. Don't think about the past much. Don't pay attention to politics. War is a crime. War leads to freedom. Support our troops. Get out of Iraq. Terrorists need to be dealt with. America is safe. Korea. Politically correct. I never knew my Grandfather. Fought in Vietnam. Proud to be in service. Military brat. Hate looking at black & white pictures. War will never touch me. Thankful for freedom. Proud to be an American. Go Canada! "I am not a crook". We have the right to bear arms. Free love. Ban firearms! Let freedom ring. America is a giant melting pot. America is spoiled. World peace now! WW I. Fight for your rights! Women's suffrage. The Holocaust. Ellis Island. Flags half-staff. Power to the people. Die for your country. Democrat. Republican. Green Party. Independent. Vote! I don't vote. Every vote counts. It's a privilege to be born an American. Yankee. Southerner. Agent Orange. The decimal system. Freedom of the press. Free speech. Prayer in schools. No prayer in school. Our founding fathers. In God We Trust. Anarchy. Long may it wave. The Gulf War. Nuclear arms. Freedom fighters. Religious freedom. Casualties of war. World Peace. Protecting the American people. Neutral. "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country". Honorable discharge. Dishonorable discharge. Purple Heart. Medal of Valor. POW. Pride. Broken. Shame. Suicide. Honor. Murder. Protection. Anger. Emotion. Craze. Peace. __________.

Remember. This Memorial Day weekend, while we have picnics and parties on our long weekend off. While we work as peace officers or dispatchers or grieve over being without family members or perhaps rejoice in having them home - remember. Remember what Memorial Day means. Who fought. Who died. Who was effected positively....Negatively. The scars brought upon souls that will never heal. Lives lost of those, whether physically living or not. Days gone. Relationships broken...or strengthened. Missing limbs. Lost hearing. Lost sight. Lost will. Just lost. All of these things. all of them, are everywhere. Every country, state, town. Everyone is effected in one way or another. This Memorial Day remembers all of these people who grieve, wonder and hope. Remember, it's not about what one believes or what their individual political opinion is. This day is based on fact. War is fact. War happened. Big or small. Acknowledged or dismissed. Honored or forgotten. Past or present. We human beings are effected. This world is effected. Remember. Think.

I've been really bad about intros to my renters, sorry guys & here comes your plug. That said, I'd like to welcome Laci and her blog to our square for this week. Everyone say hello, "Hello!" **waving fanatically**

....I should make up a little welcome jig or do you think it would be too much?
Yeah. Too much. Hey, the thought was there, eh?

cluck, cluck, cluck...

Thursday, May 18, 2006

So. I am a chicken with no head. Somehow it adds speed to a chicken's legs to have the body be headless. Well' true or not, it's how I feel - without the gore.

Yeah, it's Thursday. I have so many thoughts running through my head that I've been waking up early every morning just because I'm eager to get things done. Geez, I keep trying to remember taking those extra vitamins, but just can't seem to place the time (probably passed it too fast). Anyway, my Mother is here for a visit. Tuesday, I took care of TONS of errands so I wouldn't have to run around the next day when I was to pick up Mom from the airport.

Here's a tid-bit to enter now: Because I live in a small town and shopping consists of a small Wal-Mart, two expensive grocery stores and over the top (price-wise) gas stations, I (like everyone else who drives) drive 45 minutes away to shop at Target, Costco, pay visits to the mall or have a good meal other than the same old 10 restaurants we have close by. It's usually a planned thing especially now that gas prices are through the roof and that going into Oregon is also tax free (yeah, baby $$$).

Okay. So now you may understand a bit better on what a big deal it is to make the trip two days in a row, yeah? Good. SO! The little tyke and I had a pretty good time on Tuesday. No need to hurry home since the teenager had rehearsal and the hubby was at work. I figured I'd get up the next morning, get ready, dress the babe and jot over to the drive-thru coffee place to wake up for the drive up arriving just in time to pick up Mom at 11:30 am.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Stupid woman.....

No. I woke up at 9am. That was okay, I could handle that. After taking a shower and using the hairdryer, Gabriel was still sleeping (we had one closed door between us...) So after the 15 minutes it took to get him up and ready, which is always a pleasure, we walk out to the van to see....the back full of recyclables to be recycled. Cardboard, big pieces of styrofoam and bags and bags of newspapers. Fine, I thought, I'll just drop them off no biggie. Hoping it would be true.
It was not true.
It was a biggie.

First, they don't take the styrofoam. Fine again, no problem. I'll just drop them into a dumpster somewhere behind Costco when we get there later. Then I realized I needed to unload all of it by myself. Now, normally I wouldn't mind doing it at all. But the fact I was there in the first place and that it was hot outside and that Mike packed all the stuff in the back and being that we were running late made having to unload it by myself a very frustrating situation. This is where the pressure comes. See I'm pretty organized, not anal mind you, just orderly enough for irritation to overpower me when I open the rear hatch and have several bags of newspapers fall out and scatter all over the place. This wouldn't have been such a big deal either if I wasn't standing where the cardboard piles were and across the yard from the newspaper bins.
Fine.
Good.
This is okay, I thought, I'll just handle it...

So.....yadda - yadda - yadda 20 minutes later I was outta there, cardboardless, newspaperless with a trunk full o' foam. Fine.
At 10:55am I'm leaving town, headed over the pass to the airport. We're late. That's okay! Mom will understand, no problem.
Construction. Traffic. I'm fine, really. Just happy to get so much done on Tuesday....
Pull into the airport, take the ticket, find a spot. We're here! Yay! Let's go get Grandma! Yippee!

Now what?!
Plane's coming in at 12:45. Oh.
That's okay. We'll wait. The gift store is really nice. Not expensive. We split a soda & looked around. Okay! Is it here? No? No. 2:00pm. No way. Okay.
Fine. Alright.
Hey, Gabe. Let's go drive around. There was no way I could sit in that airport anymore.
So we paid the $4 for parking and went to Costco for a smoothie and to kill some time. Done. Time to go.
Hi Mom. Hi Grandma. Welcome to our end of California.

Of course it worked out. Did you have any doubts? No. Neither did I.
Happy Thursday!
